Pepper is the poster girl for “small dog with big dog energy”. She’s not scared of her environment, super food motivated, LOVES walks, prefers the “big dog” chew bones, and would leave any potential home intruders running & crying for their mommy.
Total boss-babe energy, Pepper doesn’t offer her affection to just anyone. Pepper prefers a bond that is a 50/50 joint effort that can be established through consistency & routine. Pepper has no problem offering affection when she’s ready so allow her to engage with you first & she’ll respect you for it forever. It won’t be a long process, as long as you don’t rush the relationship 🫶🏼
Now that you know her (very mild) quirk, here’s all the cute things. Pepper LOVES to climb in your lap & smother you with sweet lil kisses. When you call her name, she does a diva hair-flip thing with her ears & flashes you with that underbite smile.
When you put a leash on, she knows she’s going for a walk & gets so excited that she does a little dance in anticipation.
Pepper is good with other dogs, but has a special knack for putting rowdy & mischievous boy dogs in their place, taking on the role of a drill Sargent. Her last & current playmate were too rough or were bullies to other dogs we attempted to pair them with. But, we popped them in with Pepper and she established real quick that behavior would not fly with her. Pepper establishes a boundary of respect FIRST, and when that line is understood, then she will engage in play with them. If you can’t train them, well…Pepper will 😅
Unfortunately, living in a home with young children is not on Pepper’s bucket list. Older children that respect a dog’s need for space or a house with just adults would be best.
