Tex D0056

Check out Tex‼️

Tex is goofy, friendly & outgoing like a Bull Terrier, +, athletic, determined & task-oriented like a German Shepherd. Which makes sense considering his Embark DNA results show these are his dominant breed makeup!

Currently in foster, Tex came by the rescue for a sleepover for a casual photo shoot & to spend some time evaluating just who TEX is ↓

↠ Confidence🧩: 8/10

When staying in an unfamiliar environment, Tex was not overly nervous or meek. In fact, I would describe Tex as curious & interested. Instead of going straight outside from his temporary crate, he wanted to explore the house, showing 0 concern for any of the other dogs barking at him in the house. When first brought into the yard, he made sure to sniff every corner before bringing his attention back to me.

↠ Energy Level⚡️: Med-High

Tex is no doubt an athletic guy & was down to exercise that quality. He was mesmerized by the octopus toy I brought out for him. After play, he was more than happy to continue onto a walk.

↠ Play Style🧸: Structured/Engagement-Focused/Tug

While Tex enjoyed thrashing the toy octopus & some tug, I did notice temporary pauses in his focus by the environment (a sudden noise, a peculiar smell) that he felt obligated to further investigate. Because of his task oriented nature, I began to add a bit of structure to the play by asking for a “sit”, or, using the toy to lure him up on the bench, before continuing to the throw the toy.

↠ On Walks🦮:

On a walk, you can either engage with Tex or Tex will engage with the environment. In other words: keep the walk interesting & make yourself worth being paid attention to. Change directions when the leash looses slack. Switch up the pace. Work on training in between.

It may sound like “work”, but dogs like Tex live for these types of bonds with their humans.

↠ Stranger Friendliness💕:

As far as I can speculate, Tex has 0 stranger danger. He played nicely with volunteers and I was able to handle him for his potty breaks & meal without any coaxing. I imagine he’d be friends with all your houseguests!

In a nutshell, Tex is looking for a home that’s fun, that keeps things interesting. He wants to explore, learn, be challenged & make you laugh. If you’re looking for a solid dog to do solid-dog things with,  Tex is your dude!
