Meet Layla🌺 a 7-month old, loyal & clever girl.

Like the majority of rescue dogs, Layla is a mix & while there are never any guarantees of breed, I would say it’s safe to assume she is mostly German Shepherd with maybe a tinge of Husky. As far as percentages go, puppy-behavior & demeanor suggests she’s heavy on the German Shepherd side.

With that being said, let’s cut to the chase.

As a young (mostly) German Shepherd, Layla would thrive with someone that can form a strong bond & provide STRUCTURE, EXERCISE, TRAINING & BOUNDARIES.

She is easily bored by mundane exercise.

A toy on its own is not fun.

A walk without structure will have Layla creating her own game with the leash that you will not be amused by.

Food is not motivating unless she has to work for it.

Buuuut,

A toy becomes MUCH more interesting if you shake it around & growl at it yourself. And if you REALLY wanna juice up a game of tug, attach a couple commands like “GET IT” & “ENOUGH”.

No reason to make up games with the leash if y’all are busy working on leash manners together.

Suddenly, that treat in your hand becomes more valuable than diamonds because she has to crawl under your legs to “down” to get it.

Sounds like a lot? Well, after 20 minutes of that full body + brain work out, Layla was happy to plop down next to me to cool off. So, she does have an “off” switch 😉

I don’t say this to spook off potential adopters — I say it to attract the RIGHT adopter. Because with most working breeds, the effort and dedication to them matters. And if you do your part, they will return the favor tenfold & have the potential to be the most amazing dog.

In a nutshell, Layla is clingy & VERY eager to please. She already sits before opening doors & gates. She is already catching on to other freshly introduced cues such as “enough”, “get it” & “down”. Layla is already an incredible dog & has so much potential to keep learning & blossoming.
